We celebrated the end of 2022 with a Winter Networking Event.

Thanks to Dr. Richard Robitaille for an inspiring talk on targeting glial cells at the neuromuscular junction as a potential ALS therapy.

We were privileged to have Dr. Daniel Choquet from Bordeaux Neurocampus present as part of our seminar series. His research program focuses on the movement of neurotransmitter receptors in and out of synapses.

CIS hosted its first ‘Careers in Science’ Seminar featuring Dr. Damien Bell from Sophion Bioscience. He was introduced by CIS trainee, Ylauna Penalva.

Some CIS affiliated labs attended the Canadian Association for Neuroscience (CAN) Meeting in Toronto, Ontario where PIs and trainees presented their research.

Amanda Perozzo (PhD candidate from the Bowie lab) gave an oral presentation in a parallel symposium entitled “Alternative splicing in the health and disease of the mammalian brain”.

Congrats to PhD candidate, Ylauna Penalva, from the Munter lab who participated in the 3 minute thesis (3MT/MT180) McGill wide competition as a French presenter.  

Ylauna won 1st prize on April 6th and went on to represent McGill at the national level at the ACFAS congress which was held on the 11th of May at ULaval. Against 18 presenters of universities across Canada, she won the 3rd prize for best presentation.
